The Practical Healer
Artful Massage and Shiatsu with April Fleck

My Story

I have been practicing Shiatsu Therapy since 2002 after graduating from the Minnesota Center for Shiatsu Studies.

From 2003-2008 I was a Shiatsu clinic supervisor as well as a lead techniques instructor at the school. I completed the Swedish Integrative Massage training in 2004. Over the years I have taken many workshops and incorporate deep tissue techniques in every session. I am a member of the AMTA.

Prior to that I built a foundation in somatic awareness and energy through majoring in Dramatic Arts and Dance at Macalester College.  Little did I realize at the time, that the training I received as an actor and dancer prepared me to be sensitive to the biosphere of my clients.

My whole life I have been a kinesthetic learner and can easily pick up and remember new techniques. I have strong visualization skills and can see the muscles, tendons and ligaments working in 3 dimensions as well as can see energy pulses when I work.

I live in Minneapolis with husband John, daughters Sylvia and Willa, Lola the cat, and Basil the guinea pig. Hobbies include hiking, cross country skiing, crossword puzzles, cribbage, escape rooms and Brittish T.V.

I'm currently pursuing a Master of Social Work at St. Mary's University.

I am longtime supporter of LGBTQ rights and consider myself a strong Ally. Preferred pronouns are she and her.
